Introduction

Blockchain technology has transformed the way ownership and value are exchanged on the internet. Through open networks, anyone can participate in global markets without relying on traditional financial infrastructure. While this has unlocked entirely new forms of digital ownership, interacting with blockchain ecosystems remains unnecessarily fragmented.

Today, users move between wallets, block explorers, social platforms, websites and messaging applications simply to understand a project or complete a transaction. Wallet addresses identify accounts but provide no context. Projects are discovered through social media, documentation lives elsewhere, communities gather on separate platforms and payments often require copying long hexadecimal addresses. Each component works independently, yet they rarely feel like part of the same network.

As the Arc ecosystem grows, this fragmentation becomes a larger challenge. New builders, businesses and communities need more than a blockchain capable of recording transactions. They need a common place where identity, discovery and interaction come together.

Dot Network was created to become that layer.

Built on Arc and powered by the ARKNET Engine, Dot Network transforms one million permanent on-chain locations into programmable Nodes that anyone can own, configure and connect. The result is a living network where people, projects and businesses can establish a permanent presence while remaining fully owned and secured by the blockchain.

Inspiration

Every meaningful technology begins with a simple idea.

For Dot Network, that inspiration came from Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle. Reflecting on the moment Bitcoin finally made sense to him, he described the experience as the point where "all of a sudden, like, a million dots connect."

That observation captures something familiar to anyone who has worked with technology. Progress rarely comes from a single invention. It comes from recognising how many separate ideas can become one connected system.

Rather than viewing blockchain participants as isolated wallets, Dot Network imagines an ecosystem where every participant occupies a permanent location within a larger network. Each new Node strengthens the whole, creating a visual representation of an ecosystem that becomes more valuable as more people contribute to it.

Dot Network is an independent community project inspired by this vision. It is not affiliated with Circle, but shares the belief that open networks become exponentially more useful as connections increase.

The ARKNET Protocol

The ARKNET Engine is the protocol that powers Dot Network.

It transforms static blockchain ownership into a living, interactive network.

Every location within Dot Network begins as an unclaimed Node. Once claimed, that Node becomes a permanent location on Arc that can represent an individual, a business, a project or any other public presence.

Unlike traditional websites, Nodes exist as part of a shared network rather than isolated destinations. Every Node can connect with neighbouring Nodes, participate in districts and become discoverable through the wider ecosystem.

The protocol does not replace Arc. Instead, it extends it by introducing a visual and programmable infrastructure layer that helps people discover and interact with one another.

Nodes

Nodes are the foundation of Dot Network.

Internally, the protocol continues using the existing Dot infrastructure and smart contracts. This preserves compatibility with the current platform while presenting a clearer experience to users. Throughout the interface, every claimed Dot simply becomes a Node.

Every Node is owned on-chain and can be transferred, traded or configured by its owner. One wallet may operate a single Node or thousands of them. Each Node can be configured to serve a different purpose.

This allows a single organisation to build an entire ecosystem across multiple connected Nodes rather than attempting to place everything inside one profile.

Identity and Payments

Every wallet can nominate one Node as its Primary Node.

The Primary Node becomes the public identity for that wallet and may contain a username, profile information, verified social accounts and payment preferences. Rather than sharing a wallet address, users simply share their Primary Node.

Payments remain native blockchain transactions executed through the user's wallet. Dot Network does not replace wallet infrastructure; it makes discovering and interacting with recipients significantly easier.

Businesses can receive payments through dedicated payment Nodes. Projects can collect community funding. Developers can accept donations. Creators can receive support directly from visitors exploring the network.

Every payment retains the security of Arc while becoming easier to discover through human-readable identities instead of hexadecimal addresses.

Building on the Network

Dot Network is designed to support far more than personal profiles.

Projects can create dedicated Nodes for documentation, developer resources, governance, announcements and support. Businesses can establish public locations where customers discover products, services and payment information. Communities can organise events, publish updates and provide members with a permanent home inside the network.

Each new Node represents another destination that users can discover. Instead of forcing every organisation into a single page, Dot Network encourages ecosystems to grow naturally over time.

Districts and Expansion

As neighbouring Nodes become owned by the same participant, they automatically form Districts.

Districts are visual representations of growth.

A startup may begin with one Node representing its identity. As it expands, additional Nodes can represent documentation, products, developer tools, support, community resources and payments. Over time these connected Nodes form a recognisable district within the wider network.

Growth becomes visible rather than hidden. The protocol encourages expansion by giving every additional Node a practical purpose instead of rewarding ownership through artificial incentives.

The more Nodes a participant operates, the greater their ability to build useful infrastructure across the network.

Marketplace and Discovery

Every Node remains a transferable on-chain asset.

Owners can claim, buy, sell and transfer Nodes exactly as they can today. Dot Network extends this with a marketplace designed around discovery rather than speculation.

In addition to traditional listings, users may submit purchase offers for any claimed Node, allowing neighbouring landowners to negotiate directly without waiting for a listing to appear. This creates a continuously active marketplace while encouraging districts to grow organically.

Search also becomes a fundamental part of the protocol. Rather than searching only wallet addresses, users will discover people, businesses, projects, developer resources and payment endpoints through their Nodes. Discovery becomes part of the infrastructure itself.

Looking Forward

Dot Network is designed as a long-term protocol rather than a single application.

The architecture has been built to support future capabilities including richer payment experiences, additional social integrations, developer services, organisation verification and programmable Node services without requiring fundamental changes to the ownership model.
